Italian restaurant in Charleroi: Il Magi's cooking, from antipasto to dolce
Published · Updated

Looking for an Italian restaurant in Charleroi where dinner is something to savour? At Il Magi, in Montignies-sur-Sambre, our menu follows the rhythm of a real Italian meal. Here is how it unfolds, from the first antipasto to the last espresso.
An Italian meal is all about rhythm
In Italy, a celebration dinner is never just one plate. It moves in stages: antipasti to open, a primo of pasta or risotto, then a secondo of meat or fish, and finally dolce and caffè. Nobody has to order everything. The point is to build the meal you feel like, on your own or with a crowd.
Our menu works the same way. Go the full distance on a special night, or keep it simple with a starter and a pizza midweek.
Antipasti: getting started
Cold starters set the scene. The Antipasto par couvert (€21 (per person)) brings together cured meats, cheeses and grilled vegetables, ideal for two. For something fresh, try the Burrata & tomates cerises confites (€19) or the beef carpaccio (€19).
Among the hot starters, the Aubergine parmigiana (€15) is a southern classic, while the Scampis du chef (€19), with tomato cream, tarragon and cognac, is a house signature.
Prefer sharing to choosing? Our Italian tapas and sharing boards are made for that: read our guide to Italian tapas in Charleroi.
Primi: pasta and risotto
The primo is the heart of the Italian table, and our section is simply called Pasta fresca. Expect the classics, such as Carbonara with guanciale (€19) or spaghetti with homemade ragù (€18).
The Orecchiette del Chef (€30), with Italian sausage, cherry tomatoes and garlic, is a house speciality. Seafood lovers go for the Linguine allo scoglio (€29). Homemade four-cheese gnocchi (€17) and truffle risotto (€28) round things off.
Pizza and pinsa: the pizzeria side
Il Magi is a pizzeria too, and the pizza menu comes in three families.
Le pizze classiche
Tomato-based favourites, from Marinara (€10) and Margherita (€12) to Diavola (€16) and Quattro Stagioni (€17).
Le pizze bianche
No tomato sauce, just creams and cheeses. The Il Magi pizza (€22) combines burrata, Parma ham, confit cherry tomatoes, rocket and balsamic glaze.
Le pinse romane
Pinsa is pizza's lighter, crisper cousin, with around a dozen recipes on the menu. Gluten-free pizza is available on request, to be confirmed with the chef.
Secondi: meat, fish and big sharing platters
The Tagliata al Magi (€34) is the star of the grill: prime beef, rocket, balsamic, parmesan and sun-dried tomatoes, served with fries, garlic pasta or baby potatoes and a salad.
On the fish side, try the sea bass and red mullet duo (€27.50). For tables that love to share, the Gran Misto di Mare (€39 (per person · min. 2 people)) serves two or more. On winter nights, our fondues are another convivial option.
Dolci and caffè
Few Italian meals end without dessert. Our homemade tiramisu (€9) is a firm favourite, and the Cassata siciliana (€10) takes you straight to Sicily. Then it's time for an espresso (€2.50).
